 The residency program is a step in the multi-level structure of higher medical education in the Russian Federation.
Residency training in Russia is not a mandatory part of a medical professional's education, so this stage of specialist training is his conscious choice, at which he becomes a highly qualified doctor.
  
The main objective of the residency is to train highly qualified specialists for independent work in health authorities and institutions..
  
The internship program currently takes place at Saratov State Medical University (hereinafter referred to as the University) full–time for 2 years.
  
The field of professional activity of graduates who have completed the residency program includes protecting the health of citizens by providing highly qualified medical care in accordance with the established standards of the Federal State Educational Standard for Higher Education and professional standards in the field of healthcare.
  
The training of University graduates in residency programs is carried out with the aim of forming a holistic personality of a specialist, developing his professional knowledge, skills and practical skills that allow him to independently fulfill the high mission of a Russian doctor.
