History of the department

 

The Department of Occupational Pathology and Hematology was established by Professor V.Ya. Shustov in 1964. In 1970, the Clinic of Occupational Pathology and Hematology was organized, which became the clinical, educational and research base of the department. All this made it possible within the framework of the Saratov Medical Institute to create an educational, scientific and practical association of occupational pathology and hematology, to bring scientific achievements closer to practical medicine, to provide promising methods of their implementation. For more than a quarter of a century, the Honored Doctor of the RSFSR, Professor V.Ya. Shustov headed the department and clinic created by him. For more than 35 years of scientific work, he has published about 250 scientific papers on hematology, occupational pathology, internal medicine, healthcare organization, 20 innovation proposals and 3 inventions. V.I Shustov was the author of two textbooks "Clinical Hematology" and "Occupational diseases".

From 1996 to 2004, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. D. Trubetskov. Under his leadership, pathology studies were conducted in various forms of shift and shift work, professionally caused diseases in workers of various industries. The textbook "Occupational diseases and Hematology" was published under the editorship of Professor A.D. Trubetskov.

From 2004 to the present, the head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, T.V. Shelekhova. Under the guidance of T.V. Shelekhova, the study of oncohematological diseases, including molecular biological markers of tumor progression, clinical and pharmacological aspects of multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, the study of the hemostasis system, pharmacogenetic and pharmacoeconomical studies are carried out. Studies of the effects of low-intensity factors on the body of workers working in modern production conditions, studies of lung diseases of professional genesis, osteoporosis, pathology of the musculoskeletal system in liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident are continuing.

The results of the scientific activity of the department staff under the guidance of MD, Professor T.V. Shelekhova are 7 candidate and 1 doctoral dissertations; 8 textbooks, 40 teaching guidelines, as well as more than 250 publications in the domestic and foreign press; the introduction into practice of the results of multicenter randomized clinical trials conducted on the basis of the department since 2004, development and implementation of clinical testing protocols in patients with hemoblastosis.

In 2015, the Department of Occupational Pathology and Hematology was merged with the Department of Clinical Pharmacology.

As an independent Department of Clinical Pharmacology, SSMU was organized in 1987 by order of the Ministry of Health and the Rector of the Media, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences N.R. Ivanov. The first medical base of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology was the MSCH of the "Corpus" plant with a 150-bed hospital and polyclinic. The head of the department was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.I. Bogoslovskaya. For 10 years, the department conducted scientific research together with the Institute of Organic Synthesis of the Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR to study a fundamentally new group of dihydropyridine derivatives, studied the relationship of structure with action. For a long time, the Department of Clinical Pharmacology has been engaged in clinical and pharmacoeconomical scientific research of arterial hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, osteoporosis, together with the Department of Occupational Pathology and Hematology. Under the guidance of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.I. The Theological Academy has completed 15 candidate's and 2 doctoral dissertations, published 28 teaching aids, 10 monographs.

Currently, the Department of Occupational Pathology, Hematology and Clinical Pharmacology, headed by MD, Professor T.V. Shelekhova, is located on the basis of the V.Ya. Shustov University Clinical Hospital No. 3.
